But now you might be wondering: what’s next?

 Let us put your mind at ease with a little insight into the alterations process.

First things first – unless you’re over 6ft tall (and even then, sometimes!), nearly every bride will need a few small tweaks to get that perfect, tailored fit.

This is completely normal, and trust us – it’s what makes your dress truly yours.

In almost every bridal boutique, alterations are a separate cost from your gown. But don’t let that put you off – expert alterations are what transform a beautiful dress into your dress.

No Seamstress? No Stress!

We work closely with two fantastic independent seamstresses who prioritise Ivory Lounge brides, so there’s no need to worry about searching for someone yourself.

They know our gowns inside and out and will ensure your dress fits like a dream.

Where You Might Need Altering

The most common areas that need adjustment are:

• Shoulders

• Bust

• Waist

• Hem

If your gown has a longer train, it’s a great idea to chat with your seamstress about bustle options. This clever little tweak keeps your train picture-perfect during the day and allows you to dance freely all night – no unplanned dips here!

When to Book Your Alterations

We recommend starting your alterations 8–12 weeks before your wedding day.

It’s always best to get your appointments booked in early, so you can work them around your schedule rather than squeezing into whatever slots are left.
